Idaho Part III (Days 2-3)

The rest of our trip was totally great. It was such a relaxing weekend trip and McCall was the perfect setting. Since it was a little drizzly for most of the weekend, we spent the weekend napping, reading, watching Downton Abbey and The Help, grocery shopping and cooking, watching the den of baby foxes outside, and taking short walks when weather permitted.

Jill and her mother Julie also took Adam and I around town so we could see the lake, the lodges, and the cute little downtown. Everyone in McCall was incredibly nice and went out of their way to welcome us as visitors (being sure to ask what our plans were for the weekend, providing recommendations, and telling us to be sure and visit again when the weather was better- what great customer service everywhere we went!!). Jill had a good laugh when one of the employees at the deli in the local market asked if I thought it would rain or snow that night. I responded saying, "Well, if there is precipitation, I would venture to guess it might just be rain!" =D Haha.

Uncle Adam and Luc at the Sushi Bar. Luc would rather eat his hand than a spicy tuna roll!

Giraffe hats are fun!

Luc seems to like the burp cloths I made him!

This was our weekend- lots of lounging

And a little more lounging...

Who doesn't like to relax?

Luc loves to chew on his right hand!

This is a little fuzzy, but I thought it was so cute...Luc sticking out his lower lip and his daddy doing the same

Aunt Jill & Luc

We had a den of foxes right outside the house- there was a mother fox and we counted seven babies. This little guy was standing watch while his siblings were running around playing and wrestling

Another baby fox joining his sibling

Luc asking why Aunt Emily is so annoying and won't leave him alone (I watched some of the videos...and OMG, no wonder why he was overwhelmed by me...I am singing, clapping, and talking a mile a minute "Luuuuc Luc Luc, Happy Happy Sad, Luc Luc Luc!" Hahaha!)

Calm tummy time with mom

So cute!

Last photo before we headed back to SLC. Luc is crying saying "Nooo! I don't want to sit in my carseat for 8 hours! I want to stay here! In my cute "shoe" socks!"

Love this face!

Blogging backwards- SLC & Idaho Trip Part II

Ok, so that previous post was to satisfy Betty's immediate need to see some photos of the cutie pie Luc!

Since it has been a few months since I updated, I figured I'd work backward with the most recent events first. Susan had originally thought about coming to Boulder for a visit over Memorial weekend while Paul went cycling in Canyonlands National Park. Susan didn't see any good flight deals at the time, so she decided to head up to McCall, Idaho for the long weekend instead and stay at Jill's "rustic" cabin. Last Monday, Adam and I decided that perhaps the two of us would be able to fly to SLC and ride up to McCall with Susan. I worked four 10-hour days so I could take Friday off (since I had no appointments on the books and no meetings, either) and we got up at 4am to catch our early morning flight to SLC.

Uncle Adam holding Luc for the first time

Cutest hat ever- bunny ears and a little carrot on the side!

Luc's "tummy time"

And here are a few photos that I stole from Susan-
Luc and Auntie Emily

Fake feeding korean bbq to Luc (mom, don't worry, I didn't really give a 3.5 month old baby solid food). Somehow I didn't get a photo of Jared feeding Luc some kimchee!

After lunch, we headed to the grocery store. Luc was getting super sleepy, so he fell asleep on the drive back...I stayed in the car with him while he slept. Betty- this one is for you!

Somebody slammed their car door and woke sad little Luc-y Bear. Look at that lower lip pout before the full on cry starts!

Moments later he is happy as can be!! Love that toothless laugh! His face brightens up like that when he sees Susan or Paul.

The afternoon was naptime- both for the baby and for the adults! Adam and I were exhausted so napping was not a problem for any of us!

Paul ended up not feeling well enough for his cycling trip (he's been battling on-and-off sickness and they aren't sure what it is- we're hoping that he gets better soon) so Susan convinced him that a trip up to Idaho would be fun, so he ended up joining us. After a quick stop at Hector's Mexican (formerly Mocasalsa) for a California burrito (mmmm....almost as good as the ones in SD), we were on the road. Luc was such a good traveler and slept most of the way there.

Driving into the sunset...for our 8 hr trip to McCall, ID. It was a long drive, but luckily Susan didn't hit a deer. We did get pulled over because Susan was going a little fast through a small town and also had her brights on. The police officer saw that we had a sleeping baby in the car, so he let us off with a warning and we were back on our way.

Midnight feeding on the road- it got him nice and sleepy

We finally arrived in McCall a little after 2am. Needless to say, Adam and I fell asleep right away- so tired!! Jill's place in McCall is ah-mazing! The five of us (Adam, Susan, Paul, Luc, and I), along with Jill and her mom Julie, stayed in a 2600 square foot, 4 bedroom/3 bathroom vacation house that is gorgeous! It is a fractional-ownership vacation home community, so the place is well-maintained, fully furnished and equipped. The beds are so comfy and the house has all the great amenities, including a coffeemaker that took me 10 minutes to figure out- it was that fancy!

But best of all...it had paintings of dancing bears decorating the home. LOVE IT!

So that was day 1- more to come!

Trip to SLC and McCall, ID Part I

I told Betty that I would post a few photos and videos of me being all spastic auntie to Luc (and overstimulating the poor guy...but I couldn't help it!). I'll also update with other stories of the many visitors we have had over the past month (Jennifer & Amy Gamble, Margaret & Dave, Amy, Kevin & Family, and Stacia!). But first...Luc photos and videos!

Uncle Adam with Baby Luc!!

Baby Luc on the way to Korean BBQ after I overstimulated him with Sophie the Giraffe, Elmo, a rattle, squeakie toys, and my song singing. Oops.

Auntie Jill with a happy Luc-y Bear

Giraffe Hat! So cuuute!

Rabbit hats make Luc giggly!

The following video is Luc rolling over- oh how exciting it is!!

My visit to Utah to meet Luc Yee Oddou at 3 weeks!

My trip to Utah to see Susan, Paul, and Luc was great. Luc was the cutest baby ever and I am so proud of my sister Susan- she is managing so well and I can tell that she will be the best mom Baby Luc could ask for. I had a blast holding Luc, changing his diapers, watching him wriggle in his swaddling outfit like a little earthworm, and helping Susan around the house. I wish I could have stayed longer. Here are a batch of photos (more to come!).

Love his face- he is so alert

Old man wrinkles! Love them!

Susan cradling and bonding with Luc

Susan looks great for being a sleep deprived new mom!

Look at those furrowed brows!

Getting rewrapped

Somebody is waking up to get his diaper changed!

In Daddy's arms, all better!

So cute!

Grandma, Luc, and his cute panda bib!

What are you doing Aunt Emily?

No more photos for a little while, please!

Sorry Luc, I can't help myself! You are so cute!

Baby shower details- cute chicks!!

Betty making sure Susan is well covered while nursing

Awesome hot chocolate bar- so gooood!

Finger foods

Everyone got to meet cute little Luc

Susan got some great and useful gifts from experienced moms (and clothes from Betty and I, the non-experienced childless aunts that LOVE cute clothes)

Luc didn't have to worry about not having enough ladies around to watch over him while Susan opened presents. Amy made sure Luc had a clean diaper and enough cuddling!

Go, baby, go!

Look at those big eyes!

Totally content.
