China Trip December 2006- Suzhou
From Beijing, we headed to Shanghai, and then visited Suzhou and Hangzhou. We rode through the canals in Suzhou, sampled Dragonwell Green Tea and took a ride on the West Lake in Hangzhou, and did some shopping in Shanghai. Our tour guide took us to buy some DVDs at a few local places (one shopping center we went to had a long line of Chinese teeny-boppers waiting to get their posters and CDs signed by some boy band I think!).
A group shot in one of the many gardens that we got to see while we were in China.
Canals of Suzhou- we rode on a small boat through the canals.
We had a little taste of what local life was like along the canals. We saw people washing their clothes in the water, drying it out along the rails or on clotheslines, and kids running along on their way home from school.
This is a picture form the teahouse that we went to where we got to sample green tea, learn more about how they make the green tea, what the different grades meant, and get conned into buying lots of expensive tea!
